Afonso de Freitas Dantas

Afonso de Freitas Dantas is currently a student in the Master in Law and Legal Science at the School of Law of the University of Lisbon (FDUL), also working for the consumer rights defense association, Ius Omnibus.

Afonso attended the IV Post-Graduate Course in National Defence Law, a partnership between 4 FDUL institutes and the National Defence Institute, having delivered the dissertation “A New Frontier for Portugal: The Emergence of Dangers Resulting from the Technological Dispersion of Unmanned Aircraft in Civil Society”.

He is certified by the GetGlobal Data Privacy Boot Camp (GetGlobal International), as well as by the International School of Nuclear Law (Nuclear Energy Agency – OECD and the Université de Montepellier), where he delivered the dissertation “The Non-Proliferation Treaty: Considerations on its present effectiveness as an instrument to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons and how the adoption of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (if and when it enters into force) will affect the NPT’s denuclearisation goals”. He has done internships in two law firms and one IT company and is currently part of Working Group 6 – Nuclear Security and Non-Proliferation of the International Nuclear Law Association (INLA). His experience in the areas of Public International Law, Cyberspace Law and Nuclear Law led Afonso to start studies in Space Law, where focuses on issues around Defence.
